In our eyes, the Osa Peninsula in the South Pacific is one of the most impressive areas of Costa Rica, but also one of the most difficult to reach. The region is characterized by tropical rain forest with one of the highest rates of biodiversity in the world. There are two larger towns on the peninsula, Puerto Jimenez and Bahía Drake. The peninsula is home to the Corcovado National Park which you can visit in various ways, from a day trip by boat to a multiple day trek through the park. For tours, we can recommend the local travel agency OsaWild .But even if you decide to stay outside of the park, the peninsula has a lot to offer. Walk with monkeys and watch the parrots fly above your heads – on a nice hike on a trail along the shore starting from Bahía Drake. Also, you can do some kayaking in the mangroves or on the open sea. There are many accommodations which can only be reached by boat, which makes for great secluded spots and a nice adventure, e.g., this Tent Camp
In terms of price, there is no upper limit to such secluded accommodations, so you have to search a bit for what suits your wallet. Also, Bahía Drake makes for a nice lively option – and the tent camp is a good spot for having some lunch on your kayaking tour.
